Notes:
The inspiration for the vid came from the fact that this year marks the 150th anniversary of the publication of “The Origin of Species” and the 200th anniversary of Darwin’s birth. I’ve always been struck by the similarities between T:SCC and BSG and I tried to show some of that here. As humanity teeters on the edge of extinction they slide down the evolutionary tree of life whilst the machines evolve into better beings.

Notes: No matter what version of the Arthurian legend I’ve watched or read I’ve always found Morgana the most interesting character. “Merlin” has been no exception. I was struck by how awful it must be to be a seer to know that you are destined to betray and lose everything and everyone you hold dear. Merlin’s magic will go on to earn him authority, respect and love in Arthur’s Camelot whereas Morgana is destined to be alone and ostracised by her “gift” in short she is going to become very much like Nimueh. I wanted to explore that in this vid. I imagined that Nimueh was connected to Morgana in the same way as the Dragon is to Merlin. So here we have Nimueh converting Morgana into Morgan le Fay and rather enjoying herself while she’s doing it. The femslash vibe is entirely intentional so feel free to just look at the pretty.

What struck me most about the differences between LoM and A2A wasn’t so much the difference between 70s and 80s but more the socio-economic and regional differences. My 1980s childhood looked much more like LoM than A2A. I went out of my way to make comparisons between Alex’s Middle class 80s London and Sam’s working class Manchester. In case anyone was wondering the title sequence was heavily influenced by “The Sweeney.”

Bronze Ambition gets a new look! I hope y’all like it?
Vividcon convention, held every year in Chicago, the equivalent of the Oscars for vidders, is in 10 days time. Although I will not be going myself I have submitted 3 videos 2 of which premiere at Club Vivid (party night) and 1 which will show at the non-attending premiere show. This is just a heads up about me releasing all 3 online after Vividcon weekend. 
The Club Vivid vids are “Life On Mars/Ashes To Ashes” and “Torchwood.” The other premiere is for a little known British drama “Fingersmith.”

Just a couple of updates.
Firstly, Astarte has written a fantastic, extensive review for “Deus Ibi Est.” Click here to read it.
Secondly, winter is upon us so Bronze Ambition gets a makeover. The winter theme will be the default skin for now. I hope y’all like it. So let’s start with the easy stuff, shall we? You’re credits are awesome; they fit perfectly with the style and music and just look extremely cool and sophisticated. Two seconds in and the audience will know they are dealing with a pro. Eight seconds in and we have Johns back story spread out. YED, John dumbly stumbling into his own downward spiral of obsession. Burning home, no, he is among those who can never go back and live with blindfolds which is poignant and the reason for this kick-ass show in the first place. His dedication to the boys and a lost loved one. This succession is important, because I don’t think that John would sacrifice Marys sons to get his revenge. Something we learn much later. So John being lost in Missouris home with the evidence he found that links one of his boys to some evil scheme of world-ending significance.
Yeah, he shatters with grace, must be in the genes then.
Anyway, the lyrics kick up. I mentioned they are too perfect for words for John, right? Anyway, I will mention this probably a lot from now on, so bare with me and I will excuse myself from using ‘the singer’ or ‘the song’ and instead take them as Johns initial words of wisdom and let him tell his story in peace.
The street to salvation is a long, lonely and winded road and it’s important that he takes this journey against his will. Against what he thinks is best and instead let fate tug his strings and make him just an instrument of something larger. Soldier of a silent war. Just a tiny gear in a well-oiled machine. But that comes later. First he drags his sons into this mess and gets them in the frontline of this war to grow up there on the battle field of fleabag motel rooms and credit card fraud. They are well-prepared and still unguarded to some things. And they look really good sleeping peaceful for once after get some of their anger issues about their daddy out of the way.
Sad shores indeed and also the only home harbour he knows since that night.
