TMPGEnc Basic
Tutorial by Charmax
1) When you first open TMPGEnc you will be met with a project wizard. On the first window you choose your export settings as shown in the example screencap. If you are a region 2 vidder you will need to choose PAL if you are a region 1 vidder you will need to choose NTSC. Preferred output would be VCD as it reduces the size.
2)
3) After clicking next you will be met with the next part of the wizard as shown in the screencap below. Where you see the browse button on the video and audio you will need to search your computer for the video file you want to convert. (This conversion program only allows output to MPEG. You can input WMV, AVI and MPEG). Once you have done that click next.
4)
5) On the next section you will be met with a window like shown shown in the screencap below. Click on “Other settings”
6)
7) Once you have chosen “other settings” you will me met with a window as shown in the screencap below. For a higher quality output you may wish to choose “highest quality very slow” as shown circled in red.
8)
9) On the next section you have the option of changing aspect ratio and source range. This is shown in the screencap below.
10)
11) If you have one clip that is 16.9 (wide screen) and your other source is 4.3 (full screen) you would double click “clip frame” to change this. Please Note – you might possibly loose an edge, bottom, top or side if you choose this option. As shown in the screencap below you can take out the black bars by setting the top, bottom, left and right margins. Once you have done this click ok. You will now be met with the same window in step 9.
12)
13) With step 3 and 4 of the TMPGEnc wizard click next.
14) Now you need to set a save place for your new corrected source. Shown in the screencap below you can browse to your hard drive and choose the folder. Your desktop is recommended. Click ok.
15)
16) Final stage is the conversion. You can view its progress as shown in the screencap below. All you do now is wait.
17)
18) The basic tutorial is now over.
